Student's Build Outcome Report
Top Achievements from our Students Build Project
One of our biggest achievements at our site was helping turn our garden into a space that brings our whole community together. We didn’t just help build or clean the space, we made it active. We organized produce giveaways, invited families to help with garden clean-ups, and led our own workshops about healthy eating and sustainability.
Being able to lead these events ourselves showed us that we’re capable of creating real change and what lead us to share our experience with the world through our book. Writing Sharing Roots is a huge accomplishment for us because it gave us a way to tell our story in our own words and show everything we’ve learned and built together.
Evidence & Use of Data
We’ve seen our impact through both numbers and our experiences:
-
Hosted multiple produce giveaways, distributing fresh fruits and vegetables to community members

Engaged dozens of students and families in garden clean-ups and community days
-
Led student workshops focused on healthy eating, sustainability, and environmental awareness
-
Tracked student participation and volunteer hours at each event
-

-
It's all captured in our book, Sharing Roots, the journey and growth as real evidence of our work and impact

Overall Impact of Chicas Verdes & the Book
Chicas Verdes has helped us realize that we’re not too young to make a difference. Through everything we’ve done, giveaways, clean-ups, and workshops... we’ve seen how our actions can impact real people.
Writing Sharing Roots allowed us to reflect on our personal experiences and growth. It’s not just about what we did, but how we changed along the way. The book shows our voices, our challenges, and our successes, and it proves that when students are given the opportunity to lead, we can create something meaningful for our community and for ourselves.
