About
Chicas Verdes is a non-profit organization where we bring in the community.
We worked as a community to host an event for our community as a whole. We started out with a sound bath and yoga session to make us feel grounded. Our student leaders led us in thanking and presenting awards to our community partners. We even had Ryan a representative from the Senate Office come greet everyone. He and District 8 awarded us with a certificate for our work in the community. Students led activities including making delicious aguas frescas, rock painting, seed bombs, face painting, planting, cleaning up the garden, nature friendship bracelets, etc.
It was beautiful to connect our community to nature.
People were able to take copies of our book with them to share with others.

Our Student build project is really the reason we decided to write Sharing Roots. What started as a simple idea turned into something so much bigger than we expected. We planned it, worked together, and put in the time to actually write something that we felt would benefit our community. Along the way, we learned how to problem-solve, support each other, and stay committed even when things got challenging.
Writing this book gave us a chance to reflect on everything we experienced. It tells the story of how we’ve grown, not just in our skills, but as people. Through this project, we found our voices, built stronger connections with each other, and deepened our relationship with nature and our community. This project isn’t just something we built, it’s a part of who we are, and Sharing Roots is how we chose to share that with others.
